Professional DNA analysis confirms that
Evergreen® has the distinctive characteristic of its own, not
a mixture of others.
Excerpts from the DNA analysis of
Evergreen® by
Prof. Dr. Peter M. Gresshoff of
The University of Tennessee,
USA:
“The supplied sample (namely Evergreen®) was amplified in duplicate in
parallel with our Tifgreen standard. Evergreen® shares only few DNA bands
with the standard. Distinct differences occur at 200 base pairs (bp), where
Evergreen® has a strong band absent in #37.
Additional differences occur at 500 bp and above 1000 bp, #37 shows a
strong band at 700 bp absent in Evergreen®.
Therefore Evergreen®ʼs pattern
cannot be generated
by a mixture with another grass, a fungal or bacterial contaminant.
Evergreen® is not a Tifgreen.
Separate studies not shown here also show that Evergreen® is not a Tifdwarf.”
